Ahead of International Women’s Day (March 8) this year, we wanted to reach out to organisations that we truly believed in, to offer support wherever possible.
You will see across our socials we have been actively encouraging our followers to support small businesses wherever possible, whether that be through a like, follow, or recommendation. We are also doing our bit by supporting small businesses by sharing their stories across our own platforms.
In addition to this, we looked at ways we could support a relevant charity, one that truly resonated with us and our values. We are proud to announce that we have also chosen the perfect partner to collaborate with us on this.
Smart Works is a UK charity that provides high quality interview clothes and interview training to unemployed women in need. They harness the power of clothes and confidence to allow a woman to be her best at a crucial moment in her life, giving her the confidence, the self-belief and the practical tools required to succeed at interview and transform her life.
We are proud to be working in collaboration with Mantis World, to provide the Smart Works charity a donation of 200 organic cotton t-shirts, in a range of colours and sizes. The t-shirts will be used as a base layer for under suit jackets when women attend interviews. Our decision of reaching out to Mantis World for this collaboration couldn’t have been a more perfect fit.Â
Mantis World was built on the core principles of creating a fairer industry for all. Creating well-made blank adults, kids and babywear for the print wear industry, they were the first people to bring organic cotton to the market back in 2005. Having gone from strength to strength since, they successfully switched all the cotton in their production to organic in 2019. By supporting local organic farmers, they’re providing stability and opportunity to families, making a huge difference for girls and women in the places their cotton comes from.
Having a majority female team, and a female CEO, equality is a key part of the foundation of Mantis World. They recognise that women are at the heart of the textile industry, making up the majority of workers who make their clothes. As well as providing support to women throughout the supply chain in meaningful ways – such as guaranteeing maternity pay and assisting with childcare – the company are dedicated to giving all workers the rights and protections they deserve. Each country they manufacture in presents its own challenges, but they are committed to finding solutions that encourage gender equality across the supply chain and around the world.
We’re really excited to be offering this brand to our customers as not only is the quality of the t-shirts great, the brand truly does live and breath a full sustainable message. We know how important this is to our customers going forward, and we are trying to be more aware of how we can also play our part in ensuring that we are as environmentally conscious as possible.
