As the weather starts to get warmer and we transition from winter to spring, it’s time to refresh your wardrobe with clothes that are light but still keep you warm at the same time. You want workwear that is functional but still looks good which is why we think layering is the perfect balance.
Layering involves wearing multiple garments at once, for example a fleece underneath a gilet or a sweatshirt underneath a jacket. We’ve put together some tips below to help you layer your spring workwear.
Transitional Lightweight Jackets
Swapping your winter coat for a lightweight jacket is a great way to ensure you stay warm without needing to use a thick, heavy coat. An excellent transitional jacket is the Regatta Repeller Softshell. Whilst the softshell fabric will keep you warm, the jacket has a mesh lining which will help airflow between your skin and the rest of the garment. This, along with its moisture wicking capability, will help your body maintain a consistent and comfortable level without the need for a thick coat on top. Add on on top of a sweatshirt or fleece underneath for the perfect layering combination.
Other lightweight jackets which would be perfect for spring are the Kariban Full Zip Microfleece Jacket and our first printable softshell, the Regatta Ablaze Printable Softshell. Both jackets would look great on their own or worn underneath a smart gilet.
Gilets – The Functional Extra Layer
When it comes to layering, gilets/ bodywarmers can make the difference. They can be the in-between layer when you need some extra warmth between your top and coat or they can be the extra layer added on top of a fleece to keep the heat in. They’re the perfect combination of functionality whilst still looking good. We have a great range of padded, fleece and softshell gilets on our website, all available to be personalised with your design.
Which gilet should you choose?
The In-Between Layer
For adding underneath a coat, we would recommend either the Russell Smart Softshell Gilet or the RTX Pro 2-Layer Softshell Gilet. Both gilets contain two layer softshell material and are waterproof and windproof so even if you take off your outer jacket, you’re still protected from the wind and rain.
The Extra Layer
For adding on top of fleeces and softshell jackets, the Result Core Bodywarmer and the Stormtech Men’s Basecamp Thermal Bodywarmer are both great options and will give you that extra layer of warmth.
Don’t Forget About Accessories
Whilst you may be opting for more lightweight layers, don’t forget that personalised accessories are a great way to not only keep you warm but also promote your brand. For example, our Beechfield Thinsulate Printers Beanie includes a thermal Thinsulate lining which is perfect for keeping you warm, and has space at the front of the hat for your logo or design. The same can also be said for our Beechfield Touchscreen Smart Gloves and Beechfield Classic Knitted Scarf.
