The Pilgrim Bandits were founded by ex-members of the Special Forces and their friends who used to play golf together. Having gained the name Pilgrims from their regiment days in the army, they earned their ‘Bandits’ label after they thrashed everyone in a golfing competition and were accused of lying about their handicaps. After a few years raising money for other worthy causes, this year they have become a fully established charity with their members focussed on raising funds for special forces amputees, local veterans, and smaller forces projects.
Wounded Warriors Ski Camp
This year they were invited to the slopes of Breckenridge in Colorado in America. The event brings together injured servicemen from all over the world to learn how to ski, regardless of the injuries they now live with. Snow sports are made accessible by adaptive equipment and lessons from seasoned professionals and skilled volunteers. The event aims to raise confidence for people who have been wounded as a result of conflict, while at the same time helps to create international awareness for the such causes as the Pilgrim Bandits.
Unique ways to raise funds
Aside from donations, the Pilgrim Bandits have their own way to raise sufficient money to be able to fund trips like these. They take members of the public into an unknown environment to challenge themselves and find out what they are made of while still (hopefully) retaining a sense of humour. Such events include sky diving, a 110km trek across the Sahara and the Centurion Challenge in the UK.
Jackets to be on T.V.
The Pilgrim Bandits came to Clothes2Order to equip themselves for the cold weather with some personalised and warm Regatta Dover Jackets. We are now excited to here that the Pilgrim Bandits (along with their jackets!) are to be featured on Sky television, as part of a documentary. The group were followed around by a Sky News team for three days as they made the programme which will be aired this Boxing Day. We are excited to see how they got on with the slopes and are happy that they chose Clothes2Order to keep them warm.
