It’s our birthday! On the 20th of August we were proud to celebrate our 22nd birthday. This provided us a perfect opportunity to reminisce over all the significant milestones which we have achieved. Over our 22 years we have created over 12 billion stitches and customised over 2 million t-shirts. We have also amassed over 18,000 independent 5 star reviews on Trustpilot which has made us the UK’s favourite custom branded clothing company.
It all started for Clothes2order, when we were founded back in the year 2000. We are proud of our Manchester roots with our first offices being located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
Since then, we moved to a larger production facility based in Trafford Park in 2006. This move enabled us to grow our team which was initially 10 to now over 160. We strongly value the incredible work of our staff and in 2021, we were recognised as a UK Living Wage employer. This is a commitment to pay all members of staff the real Living Wage is higher which is an independently calculated hourly rate of pay that is based on the actual cost of living. Furthermore, our move to our Trafford Park base allowed us to be at the forefront of the digital printing revolution. We were one of the first to implement direct-to-garment printing, investing into our first machine in 2010. We are always looking to be pioneers with our industry and implement the latest production processes. This was the case in 2019, when we invested £1 million into eco-friendly print technology. The Greenprinted technology using 95% less water than traditional methods. Within our first year of using this technology we saved 1.4 million litres of water.
Throughout our 22 years we have also received national media coverage from the likes of BBC, ITV and The Telegraph. We are also proud to be the recipients of recipients national business awards. In 2021, we won 4 UK Business awards for our work during the pandemic. During the pandemic we were able to raise £100K for NHS Charities. This was through our brand Brilliant Masks which sold the highest quality non-surgical grade face coverings available. A portion of all sales were donated to NHS Charities and we were exceptionally proud to reach such a significant fundraising figure.
